BRUZ
Bruz is a commune in Brittany located in the Ille-et-Vilaine department. It is one of the 43 communes that make up Rennes Métropole. Formerly the residence of the bishops of Rennes, it is bordered by the Vilaine River and still has several castles and manor houses within its territory. Allied bombing in 1944 completely destroyed the town center and profoundly transformed its appearance. Predominantly rural until the mid-20th century, it is heavily influenced by its proximity to Rennes, which is only 13 km away. There are many monuments, cultural or sports facilities, and businesses in Bruz, as well as significant structures of the metropolitan area such as the Ker Lann campus, which houses companies and higher education institutions, and the Rennes Exhibition Park. Since the late 20th century, its population has grown significantly, reaching about 20,000 inhabitants today.
